Professional cyclist Justin McQuerry has had to manage his Type 1 Diabetes his entire life, and hasn't let it slow him down.
"It's all I've known," he said in a recent interview on the Bike Talk with Dave podcast. "So there's nothing I can't do."
And he hasn't. He represented the United States in the UCI Gravel World Championship race last fall in Italy. While he didn't have the great day he hoped for, he enjoyed the experience and is hoping to carry his fitness into Spring and the U.S. stage race circuit: Tour of the Gila, Redlands Stage Race and the Joe Martin Stage race in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
McQuerry sat down with Iowa podcaster Dave Mable to talk about how he has managed his cycling career while dealing with the ups and downs of a blood-sugar disease. In this episode he shares how he keeps his body in balance while training and racing, both long one day gravel and road races as well as week-long stage races.
