The next phase of the Kinnick to Raccoon Trail Improvement Project has begun, though it will cause some disruptions to trail users in Adel for the next month.

The lighting of the bridge over the Raccoon River began Tuesday, with contractors installing color-changing LED lights on the bridge itself and on the approaches. As a result, the bridge will be closed during the day, but will be reopened to trail users in the evenings and on weekends. The work is expected to be wrapped up by mid-June, with the Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce and Dallas County Conservation Board keeping the public updated on the project as it progresses.

Other phases of the project include landscaping between the river and trailhead at Nile Kinnick Drive, which was completed earlier this year, and commissioning the “In the Shadow of the Rails” art project, which should be installed soon.
