Cedar Rapids police have arrested a man on multiple charges tied to a burglary case on Sunday, October 25.

Officers say David Bryant III, 24, was stopped as he was riding a bicycle without a light at 12:28 a.m. on Friday near A Ave. and 5th St. NE.

During the stop, officers said they found a handgun, reported as stolen from an unlocked vehicle outside an apartment complex in the 1200 block of O Ave. Place NE on October 26.

Bryant also said the bicycle was his, but officers said it matched the description of a bike reported as stolen on Sunday from an attached garage in the 1000 block of 2ns St. SE around 7:20 a.m.

The victim reported stolen bicycles, golf shoes, and a bicycle helmet. Investigators said the break-in was captured on video, and Bryant was identified by officers who knew him from previous incidents.

Bryant is charged with Trafficki in Stolen Weapons, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying Weapons, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Officers say the handgun was found concealed under Bryant's coat, attached to a bullet proof vest.
